Continental Summer Games, Not a Good One for Manchester United Participants

The just finished continental football events in both Europe (UEFA Euro Championship) and in South America (Copa America) which had some players of Manchester United all ended not in a good way for the players in the competitions.

The 2020 Copa America had Edison Cavani for the Uruguayan side, and Fred for Brazil. While the UEFA Euro 2020 had a couple of Manchester United players like Victor Lindelof (Sweden), Paul Pogba (France), Daniel James (Wales), Luke Shaw, Marcus Rashford, Dean Henderson (who later withdrew from the Squad before the Competition), Jadon Sancho (Manchester United's newly signed in the course of the competition), and Harry Maguire all for England, Scott McTominay (Scotland), David De Gea (Spain), Bruno Fernandes, and Diogo Dalot (who entered the competition as an AC Milan player).

In Summary the course of the various International competitions we quite good for some of the players with Fred playing some key impacts and rendering certain decisive passes for his Brazilian side and thus his side making it to the finals. Edison Cavani in the same competition also showed up a great performance for Uruguay and being the first Manchester United player to score at the international competition in the summer, but his side had an early exit in the competition despite making it out of the group stage.

In the Euro 2020, there was great performance from players like Victor Lindelof, Paul Pogba, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw given that these players enjoyed quite some great playing time with their various sides relative to other United players. Bruno Fernandes who was United's best player during the club season actually did not replicate this well in the Euros given that he was being overshadowed by the former Manchester United man Cristiano Ronaldo, and so he could not get that favour from the national team as he does with Man United... As well the Portuguese side left the competition early after the group phase. Victor Lindelof also put up great performance for Sweden, after the finished group winners and him the the man of the march in one occasion. Pogba as well was a good with a great performance being the man of the march in certain occasions and the best midfield player for the French team, and he was equally the first Manchester United player to score a goal in the Euro 2020 which happened to be the goal of the day against Switzerland, even though that was the game where the French side was knocked out of the competition on penalty kicks. Pogba was amazing for the French side with certain accurate key passes made in the competition.

Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw were the amazing pair of the competition which Manchester United could boast of. This English pair of Shaw and Maguire was one of the best defensive dou of the competition after Cheilini and Bonucci. Maguire and Shaw actually had a great competition given that they enjoyed quite some playing time with their side, and Maguire being the man of the man in one occasion, and having a goal in the competition and being one of the only two scorers on penalty kicks for England at the finals. Luke equally was phenomenal with several decisive key passes in the competition, and record an assist and a goal against his name in the competition.

Other United players in the competition like Daniel James, and McTominay left the competition early such that their performance were not quite visible. Other like Marcus Rashford, and Jadon Sancho were underused by their coach Gareth Southgate (who actually was a dumb manager in using good players), given that these two were used at 'wrong' moments in the competition especially in the finals of the competition (where they were both brought in at the tail end of the extra time and as a result, they couldn't do it well on penalties.

They were a host of other underused Manchester United players in the competition like David De Gea, Who did not play a single minute in the competition.

Thus the International football competitions during the Summer was a fairly good one for the Manchester United Participants there given that all there teams with Manchester United players with the exception of Scott McTominay's Scotland made it to the knockout phase of the various competitions, and two of those teams made it to their various finals, but unfortunately those teams didn't win their cups (Fred's Brazil losing the Copa America finals, and the English side of Rashford, Sancho, Maguire, and Shaw, losing the Euro 2020 finals).
